My husband and I had both made some decisions that would seem impossible for a marriage to withstand. In my anger, and in his hopelessness, and in ourselves there was no hope. If not for the Lord Jesus I would have shriveled up into a ball and given up. My heart opened up to Him. I cried out to Him. He heard my cry and came running. In His great love and mercy for me, He showed me the waywardness of my heart. I repented of my pride. My control. I realized I had unforgiveness in my heart towards my husband, and towards others in my life, many from offenses years and years before. That unforgiveness had held me captive. Captive to my fears that tormented me. Captive to the enemies lies. I wanted to be free. The Lord started to unravel the tangled heart of mine. I started to walk through a process of forgiving those that I had held on my hook.
I did not even know until I sought Him, all of the unforgiveness I had towards certain people in my life and the lies I had believed about myself - and had lived out of. I wanted to be free of all of the lies! Free in the sense that Jesus paid for it all on the cross! I saw all of His promises in a new light. I realized that the Bible clearly talks about forgiving one another, and along with that, comes healing. Part of that healing for me was seeing who I belonged to. I had believed for years that I did not belong to anyone. Jesus showed me as I walked through this that I am His. I am truly His. And because I am His, I can give my heart fully to my husband.
I can trust Jesus and all He has for me. He will always take care of me, no matter how overwhelming the issues are.
